Brad Elder and Title One were recently featured in a Lubbock Avalanche Journal article entitled Title 1 speeds up escrow services with digital copies of county's land ownership history. Below is an excerpt of the article. See the full article online at LubbockOnline.com.
Unlike other title companies, which use their title plants to tell runners what real estate documents to copy from the county clerk’s office, Title 1 has collected digitized copies of every county land document dating back to 1881.
"The clerk wouldn’t let us use an autofeed scanner, so we took a flatbed scanner down there and copied the document one page at a time," Elder said of the painstaking process.
Some 5 million documents are part of Title 1's electronic files, which have been built working with Kimmel Corp. of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The company has created the accompanying data base to make documents dating from 1962 retrievable through a standard computer search.
